Mental Health Efforts in the US
Halil Demir has been a strong advocate and supporter of mental health efforts in the US.
Khalil Center is one of the leading faith-based mental health organizations in the United States, dedicated to integrating psychological science with spiritually-grounded therapeutic approaches.
It primarily serves Muslim and immigrant communities, offering culturally sensitive counseling, psychotherapy, community education, and mental-wellness programs. The Center focuses on reducing stigma around mental health, expanding access to professional clinical care, and developing evidence-based models rooted in Islamic spiritual psychology.
Demir has worked to elevate awareness, mobilize support, and strengthen institutional capacity for programs that address trauma, emotional well-being, and long-term resiliency. His contribution has helped broaden Khalil Center’s reach and impact across the U.S., ensuring more individuals receive the culturally attuned care they need.
Through housing assistance, food programs, and community care, families find stability during transition. At the same time, career guidance, certification courses, and job placement initiatives help refugees and displaced individuals rebuild their independence and dignity.
With his guidance, the implementation of the Refugee Girls and Women Empowerment program in Kenya and delivering core relief items and medical assistance for Sudanese Refugees in Chad was carried out.
Together, these efforts reflect a vision of compassionate empowerment where every person has the opportunity to live, work, and contribute with security and hope.
